Actually that's where you're off. Iran has the some of the most respectable universities around; including medical schools. So good that they typically can pass the board exams of any county without further study or training on their first attempt. Of course one can make more money in the west, that I'll give you...hence the attraction.

Firouz Naderi, Seyyed Hossein Nasr, and Shahram Dabiri.They may be iranian or persian but they have something else in common.They were all educated in either the USA the UK or another part of Europe.You will find that most if not all Iranian scientist etc were educated in the West.You will also find that most of Irans leaders, ie immams despite hating the West send their own kids there for an education as well as going to the West for medical treatment.Duh
