It will never be a 'republic'. to many royal families financing Brussels. Being from the middle east, if you are familiar with Babylon (persia). It will be a clone of the Babylonian system, bu technocracy will usurp false democracy. Ba'al will be data basing Computer system. Humans will be cattle. and all your wealth will be digitized. People will self enslave themselves under false pretenses. Naive as a cow being lead into the slaughter house by it's owner.

And are you suggesting that nationalism should prevail?Riddle me this: how are we going to progress further if we don't share our ideas & cultural history/experience? Would you like 3rd WW in Europe today?One thing the EU is doing is being secular, which is the most important thing since the freethinkers were born back in the mid-XVII century.EU could be a 3rd Roman Empire, or Republic if you wish, instead of being 30 nationalistic states that believe in mumbo-jumbo.

Anyone who cannot see how the EU progressively weakens democracy is a fool. The EU is an illegitimate supranational organisation. Barroso is a former communist so he probably doesn't care.

Amazing how many people have read a small, unresearched piece and state it as a "fact" for or against the EU. Many complain about the EU being run by the unelected and then also complain about the Lisbon treaty, designed to take power from the unelected and transfer it to Parliament. Or maybe accusing the EU of being undemocratic when actually it was the choice of national governments, not the EU, whether to agree to treaties. Please, look at your arguments and stop contradicting yourselves!

Making Europe as quickly as possible can be a mistake. I am pro-EU and currently attend a master in EU Studies. I think it would be fair that common people (yes, even my parents and grandma, for example) could understand better what's going on. Do you REALLY know what the Lisbon Treaty is about? Of course the member states have the responsability to get it closer to their citizens (well, the member-states parliaments ratified it after all! Only IE asked directly an opinion to its citizens)
