Robert Graves, perhaps the greatest of 20th century British poets, argued that you could always tell true poetry by the fact that it caused the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up. Richard Thompson's songs invariable have that affect on me. Never more than in this magnificent song. Just heart-breakingly true and powerful!

Every time I say, "Oh, this RT song is my favorite, hear another one." They are all the genuine article - all favorites. |
