If they kill Alex even in an accident it would just attract more attention to his message. Its like why in the movie JFK Fletcher Prouty told Garrison the government wouldn't kill him. It was because he had too much light on him ie media exposure. To kill him would just show that the government feared his message that they killed JFK and wake more people up to that sad reality.
