they don't write simple songs like this anymore and the pain in his voice reminds me of the nancy griffith version where she cries after singing it. Loved it and love her.

another great one by townes is "Marie". I mean its hard to find a bad one, but Marie is another one that really tells a story of life and its somber ways.

I'm from Canada and I have always considered Townes as " Americas answer to Leonard Cohen", And although they are quite different in their approach they are both warrior poets in my eyes. R.I.P. T.V.Z.
