First off, I don't own a four wheeler, and they are not allowed on most public land in Montana. 2nd, you call me a paleface? Then you must be an indian? I don't want your respect, and I don't want to just "kill wolves" for the sake of killing. Wolves kill cattle, elk, sheep, moose, domestic dogs, etc. I don't want them because of that. We now have PEOPLE in Montana. PEOPLE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN WOLVES! Don't put me in any croud with "you". Like you are gonna kill a wolf with a stick..

What do you mean " we " paleface. WE want the wolf, not some steroid filled cow. You are not the only creature on the planet, I wonder how you would fare in the backcountry without all your high tech hunting gear and 4-wheelers. Want to impress us, take out one of the dreaded wolves with a stick or rock at close range, then you will have my respect, until then you are all feeble wannabe's.

Oh darn, wolves doing what their supposed to do, keep the sick and weak out of the herd. How did the people who this country was taken from live so well with the animals. Because greed didn't play a factor then. Fluffy the poodle and his golf courses whine if a cow gets eaten, he whines if the wolf eats a elk or some other natural prey but fluffy couldn't begin to make it without his golf clubs, his tivo, or god forbid he might have to walk without his 4-wheeler.

I would not trust YNP data. Who runs the park? Do they allow opposing views? Have you ever been to a talk in the park that showed negative side of wolves? I have listened to several, and never heard a comment from any speaker about the negative side of wolves. In fact, they call the ranchers outside the park "profiteers". I guess thats a name for people who have to work for a living.

but, still not the point. How many do the wolves eat? How will that affect hunting opportunities for people who depend upon hunting for their livihood? I would rather see that 15% harvested by people than by wolves. I can agree with some of the things you have said, but still think wolves need to be culled.

I will check the data....from true sources...and get back to you

Again, I collected data for the YNP wolf project and it is not true that "wolves kill for the sport of it and eat very little." The only time I saw them leave a carcass early was when there was an abundance of winter killed animals during the winter of 2005-2006. FOr 3 years of tracking them daily, I never saw them leave a carcass early.

The 219 elk figure comes straight from the National Park Service wolf website for YNP, which is not a "wolf lover" site. Technically, that figure is more accurate than the one you got. Thank you for proving that the truth is also not in wolf haters.

I live in Gardiner, MT and collect data for the YNP wolf project. Since wolves were reintroduced nearly 13 years ago there have been a handful of cases, maybe 4-5, of wolves killing bighorn sheep in YNP. And it's not because we "make up data", that's a flat out insult. I followed packs on the northern range for 3 years and witnessed them kill the 2 bighorns in 2006. Since 2006 there has been 1 other case when they killed a bighorn. So I know for a fact that your information is false.
BIGSKYHAL50 (January 1, 1970 at 12:59 am)
That statement is crap. Hunters, whether you like it or not, created the game we have in Montana through license fees. Your feeble minded tofa eating friends don't have a clue.
