Brzezinski is ultra-smart. Read his book "The Grand Chessboard" and it becomes apparent that he is an imperial minded, Russia hating expansionist. It is just how the US will dominate the world which is important to him. He thinks the US should gain allies and let them spend their money and send their troops to die instead of the US.
