He could take those punches by letting himself get pushed backwards. Most of the force of the punch was transfered into movement. He still took a massive shock to the stomach though, which is really impressive.

the bullet is somehow an illusion obviously but the punch is just mind over matter and blaine is an expert at that. its apart from illusions and frankly more impressive than even his magic.
