Sometimes people are ashamed to be Americans or they don't feel like Americans or maybe they just don't like to sing along sometimes, but it's amazing the way this song can open up a room. No other song can get people singing along like this one. I've seen it sung in open mics, campfires, classrooms - the room just comes alive and for a minute I feel like we have a shared experience or sensibility.Is this about socialism? Well, it's about equality, about how we all have a stake in this land

goodjob, way to pick and choose the most convenient half-truths to make your point seem semi-plausible. "Vikings made it to North America before it was settled by the so called natives...." lol I'm just gonna assume you were kidding and that was a big joke because there's no way anyone could actually believe this.

This was always the real anthem of the US, which put the people above the profiteers and generals. And now is surely the time for the change.

Woody guthrie wrote what he saw. The verse "By the shadow of the steeple I saw my people" he is talking about the dust bowl refugees and the millions of other folks that were hit hard by the great depression.This song is about socialism. The title tells it all. The Christian conservative song would be "This land was bought and sold by greed and curruption and everybody who is not christians can burn in hell"I saw your videos about Reagan. He's the reason we are in the mess we are in now.
