http://www.mediaed.orgThe Disney Company's massive success in the 20th century is based on creating an image of innocence, magic and fun. Its animated films in particular are almost universally lauded as wholesome family entertainment, enjoying massive popularity among children and endorsement from parents and teachers.Mickey Mouse Monopoly takes a close and critical look at the world these films create and the stories they tell about race, gender and class and reaches disturbing conclusions about the values propagated under the guise of innocence and fun. This daring new video insightfully analyzes Disney's cultural pedagogy, examines its corporate power, and explores its vast influence on our global culture. Including interviews with cultural critics, media scholars, child psychologists, kindergarten teachers, multicultural educators, college students and children, Mickey Mouse Monopoly will provoke audiences to confront comfortable assumptions about an American institution that is virtually synonymous with childhood pleasure. Interviewees include Henry Giroux, Diane Levin, Gail Dines, Elizabeth Hadley, Carolyn Newberger, Alvin Poussaint, and Justin Lewis.

Kids are too young to understand the difference...between right and wrong...disney films arn't hurting anyone.

>>>Disney cares about those of you who are willing to contribute cash to their ever diverging monopoly on mainstream entertainment...it's time for critical thinking...Disney represents the corporatism that keeps the slaves engaged...it's a much less scary place when nothing is sacred...when nothing is exempt.

.. these people have obviously never read the original grim and anderson tales. the little mermaid commits suicide after considering murder, snow white's stepmother dances in red hot shoes until she dies, and in most beauty and the beast variations bell has two sisters who turn to stone. sheesh. if they think this is bad take a look at some of cartoonetwork's stuff.

The people who made this video made a big mistake to begin with by suggesting that it is the TV that raises kids. Kids are raised by their parents in the first place, number two is their environment and then comes school.Like a kid who grows up in a ghetto where people get shot for a few bucks will become a good citizen JUST because all TV programms he or she watched as a child were completely politically correct. now this is an extreme example, but I think you all know what I mean.

In my opinion, love is strong and combined yet not everyone falls in love. It's fact, not all men and women fall in love, e.g lesibens. Yet they all bring out a powerful emotion that wants us to dream the imaginable. Like if you wanted to be someone. 'if you have a dream try and pursue it.' Walt Disney.

I grew up watching disney, and what they are saying is bunch of nonsense. All I know, is that they have their view, and they havent heard our side yet. The generation that have been watching Disney since we've been growing up.

I grew up on these Disney films, and I am not racist or anything. I never really looked into the movies as deeply as some people tend to. Nor do little children look into it like adults are beginning too.And what she translated Beauty and the beast into, is quite different from what I've always looked at it as. I've always seen it as a beautiful person, falling in love with someone who may not be normal, or attractive. Thats what I always thought, and thats why I liked it. It was different.

I grew up with Disney, and I don't have discrimination issues! If you look for mistakes deeper, then you'll find mistakes everywhere, even in little things! The truth is that any character, white, dark, yellow or blue could be from the United States, because this country is full of multi-racial people! Come on! And for the one who said that "Maddy" is not as statussy the other princesses names... Isn't it the nickname for "Madison"? It's quite a classy name, don't you think??

Lol, you're right, it's fantasy, it's supposed to be that way!
