donne0216 - You have to look at this performance within context. Effie (her character) woman is losing her man; her career and has a child by the man's that she loves but he's abadoning her. If you had all of that taken from you in an instant; wouldn't you cry, "scream" and plead for things to not be so??? It's a song for her life! This is why Jennifer Holiday's performance is now a legendary bench mark for delivery, character and vocal deliverance, which is true PERFECTION!
