Errol Flynn was an Irish Australian. His father Theodore Flynn, a biologist and a university professor in both Tasmania and Ireland, was descended from the (O')Flynns an ancient Irish Gaelic family (Clan).His name "Errol" is derived from a Scottish place name, of unknown meaning and his surname "Flynn" is derived from the Gaelic word "flann" which denotes a dull red colour and means "ruddy" when applied to persons.
