you do realize bartering is still a market right?
Chindro2828 (October 4, 2008 at 7:06 am)
Good point though, i haven't really thought that through since im just bitchin about people calling Communisim inheritly evil. Which is not true unless you're talking about Stalin's version. Just my 2 cents anyway. Hmmm cool that you came along, got me thinking.
Chindro2828 (October 4, 2008 at 7:01 am)
Really good point.By trying to implement Communisim in such a short period they screwed everything up. From what i know, Communisim works best as small communities who can barter with each other. I think its too hard to implement on a large scale. Thats why they failed. Think of hunter/gatherers back in the day. They worked on a communist type structure, until someone developed agriculture and was able to hoard food and get wealthy from bartering with their excess provisions.

Personally I think communism failed because they couldn't allocate goods efficiently. If you only have 5 pairs of shoes and 10 people, those shoes should go to ppl who walk the most, but in communism, they give all ten of them one shoe to wear(which makes them useless). Market, to my knowledge, is the most efficient way of distributing scarce goods; it has been since the beginning of time and it will be till the end of it. I may be biased since I am an econ major, so I am open to ur opinion.

The reason why socialism never existed in the so called socialist countries, is because socialism requires the country to be industrialized, such as the US. The technology and resources and productive forces need to exist in order to provide the needs and wants for the entire population. because those countries were not industrialized, but rather rural, the socialist state had to act as a capitalist, and turn the country into a giant company, where the citizens were employees, run by the boss. |
